Deportivo Internacional is a former Mexican football club from the city of Irapuato in the state of Guanajuato .

history

The association was founded around 1919 by brothers Sebastián and Pedro Martínez Vázquez, who were born in Spain , shortly after they settled in the city.

With the establishment of Internacional, football really got going in Irapuato and the Inter team represented the city at the football championship organized by the Liga Mexicana in the 1920/21 season , at which the capital city clubs Asturias , México and Germania (later the winner ) and the Morelos Club, based in the state of Morelos, took part.

Just a few years later, the first national championship was launched in the state of Guanajuato, which was initially only held between clubs from the cities of Irapuato and León . In the final of this competition held in 1928, Internacional and city rivals Deportivo Irapuato faced each other. In this game, which Deportivo Irapuato won 1-0, the Inter team, playing in red and white striped jerseys, white shorts and black socks, played in the following formation: Sebastián Martínez (goal) - Roberto Brunel, Adolfo Bazdresch (defender) - Jesús Vaca, Manuel Ezeta, Florentino Barrios (midfield) - Luis "Picho" Alfaro, Basilio Barrios, Ramón Covarrubias, Francisco Garmendia, Pedro Martínez (attack).

It can be assumed that the club, which no longer appears in later statistics, was dissolved soon afterwards. Its founder, Sebastián Martínez, is known to later function as referee (he led the final of the 1933 national championship, which Deportivo Irapuato won 3-1 against Unión de Curtidores ) and then a board member of the Federación del Centro and the club Leon was.
