Lhotka nad Labem depot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lhotka nad Labem depot (also known as the Lhotka nad Labem hoard ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Lhotka nad Labem in Ústecký kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the Litoměřice Museum .

Find history

The depot was discovered in March 1929 on the northeastern edge of Lhotka on the site of a brick factory . The exact circumstances of the find are unknown. The site is on the west bank of the Elbe . Prehistoric finds repeatedly came to light on the site of the brickworks, including the depot and four other ensembles from the early Bronze Age, which presumably came from a settlement.

composition

The depot was placed in a ceramic vessel. This is a steep neck vessel with opposing vertically perforated cones on the neck-shoulder break. The vessel contained several bronze objects : an arm spiral made of wire with a circular cross-section, an ornate loop-headed needle , two identically designed ring-headed needles each with an attached chain of four rings cast into one another, three low, open, ribbed arm cuffs, two open bar arm rings with paw ends and a closed ring (probably a chain link). There is also a loaf-shaped drop made of white metal and a chain made from a total of 577 pearls and a chain end. The pearls are 566 barrel-shaped pearls, some of which are made of bronze, some of white metal and eleven double pearls that are connected by a short plate. The chain termination is conical and has two openings.
