The Old Language Teaching (self-spelling; AU for short ) is the oldest German-language specialist journal for the didactics of ancient languages ( Latin and Greek ). It was founded in 1951 by Klett Verlag , initially with the subtitle Arbeitshefte on its scientific justification and practical form , and is now published by Friedrich Verlag . The contributions are primarily aimed at teachers, but are also received in the international specialist field of classical philology and recorded in the Année philologique .
The magazine appears five times a year in six issues; two of the issues are summarized in a double issue.
Editors are (as of 2019): Dan Drescher, Andreas Hensel, Marina Keip, Wilfried Lingenberg , Rainer Nickel , Anne Uhl and Anja Zanini.
