The Munich was the first locomotive from the ironworks of JA Ritter von Maffei . It was built in 1841 in the Hirschau near Munich . Like the eagle, it belongs to the patentee type ( patented in 1833 for Robert Stephenson ). The locomotive was procured by the Munich-Augsburger Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft and later taken over by the Royal Bavarian State Railways . There it was classified in the genus AI and given the inventory number 25.

Technical specifications

The machine made about 77 kW at a speed of 30 km / h and 170 t mass of the train.

Whereabouts

In Gustavsburg in Mainz the locomotive served after her retirement in 1859 as a fixed installation to drive machine tools.

A model of the locomotive has been in the collection of the Deutsches Museum since 1974 . It is on display in the traffic center .
