The riding car is since 1986 appearing Austrian motorcycle - magazine . The name is based on the riding car developedby Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach , the first motor vehicle similar to amotorcycle. In addition to the motorcycle magazine, the Reitwagen is now the most important magazine for bikers in Austria. The Reitwagen is published ten times a year and usually consists of 100 pages in four-color print , slightly wider than A4 format.

The riding car also acts as an organizer of license-free motorcycle races and race training courses. The frequent visits to the racetrack are a guarantee for vehicle control of modern super sports motorcycles.

The writing style of riding car - journalists and the high penetration rate, especially in the scene of the fast bikers leads, among other things, that new coinages first by readers, then by other newspapers are adopted and finally by many bikers in the distribution area. The biker jargon expressions Winkelwerk (winding country roads), herbrennen (depend on, defeat), citizen cage ( passenger car ) and Kilogixxer ( Suzuki GSX-R 1000 ) were used for the first time in riding cars.

The names of the editors that appear underline the written message. For example, Andreas Werth, alias Berzerk, is the editor and Fritz Triendl, alias Zonko, was editor-in-chief for 18 years until May 2014 (and self-proclaimed official Herbrenner ). Other writing staff are Bocki Brezn , Bravo Maxa , LOST Espandrillo , Stefan Hötschl , Herr Brenner , Elvis Presser , Joe Zippo and Sir Carl Chopper .

Two-wheelers with a displacement of less than 125 cm³ are only mentioned in the riding car in connection with a successful racing set-up or in the role of victim in test drives.

Many editions of the Reitwagen were sold out shortly after publication.
