occupation

The Sieg des Hosenrock is a short, German silent film comedy from 1911 by and with Max Obal .

action

A young man is totally fascinated by women in pants. This preference for the special trousers quickly develops into a fetish and leads to the fact that his bride, who has always dressed in skirts, becomes totally insecure. Because her future husband now prefers to look after women in pant suits.

And so, out of love for him and in fear of losing the man of her dreams, she begins to wear a culottes herself. Soon she begins to appreciate this item of clothing, especially since the groom now reads every wish in her eyes. With this form of unintentional emancipation, from then on, his eyes only stick to her wrapped legs and no longer wander to those of other women.

Production notes and background

The victory of the culottes was censored on June 19, 1911 and premiered that same month. The film measured a length of 160 to 162 meters.

Similar to another production from the early days of German silent films, From a Man's Girlhood , this film also plays with role stereotypes and gender roles.

classification

Heidi Schlüpmann writes: “THE VICTORY OF THE HOSE SKIRT from 1911 also reveals a masochistic longing for the phallic mother - a counterpart to the experience of sadistic violence in male society. At the same time, a film like this reacts to the appearance of fashion in which the ›new woman‹ is reflected. "
