The Simplicius is an opera in three acts by the Swiss composer Hans Huber based on the novel Der adventurous Simplicissimus by Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen . It was published in 1899 by Fr. Kistner , Leipzig. It is considered one of Huber's main works. The libretto wrote Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy . The opera was premiered on February 22nd, 1912 in Basel.
