The Universums-Forend is an opera by Stephan Winkler based on the novel of the same name by Eugen Egner . The composer created the libretto in collaboration with Thierry Bruehl . The opera was commissioned by the Kunststiftung NRW , which celebrated its 25th anniversary with it. The world premiere was given by the Ensemble Musikfabrik under the conductor Peter Rundel on February 7, 2014 in the Wuppertal Opera House .
