Coordinates: 17 ° 19 ′  S , 123 ° 38 ′  E The Shire of Derby-West Kimberley is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 104,080 km² and has about 7750 inhabitants (2016).

Derby-West Kimberley is located on the Australian north coast in the Kimberley region about 1800 kilometers northeast of the capital Perth . The seat of the Shire Council is in the city of Derby , where about 3300 inhabitants live (2016).

The Derby-West Kimberley Council has nine members. They are elected by all residents of the Shire. Derby-West Kimberley is not divided into districts. The Council Chairman (Shire President) is also recruited from among the Councilor.
