Derrick Atkins (born January 5, 1984 in Kingston , Jamaica ) is a track and field athlete from the Bahamas . His special routes are both the 100 m and the 200 m . Atkins is a 2nd cousin of former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell .

In 2005 he took part in the World Championships in Helsinki and was eliminated there in the semi-finals over 100 m with a time of 11.57 s. His greatest success so far was winning the silver medal at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka . At the same time, he improved his personal best to 9.91 s in the final run over 100 m.

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , he was eliminated in the semifinals.
