The little shepherd's dream of happiness is a fairy tale ( AaTh 725, 569). It is in Ludwig Bechstein's German book of fairy tales at position 43 (1845 No. 45).

A boy faithfully helps his father as a shepherd. Then he dreams three times that he is King of Spain, his parents mock, but he leaves. At night in the forest men run to a house, he goes after them to sleep there and hears about their stolen miracles: trousers from which ducats fall, a hat ( tricorn ) that shoots, a sword that creates soldiers, and seven mile boots. With that he goes to Spain, defeats the king's enemies and receives his daughter and the kingdom. He gives the miracles to the owners, but buys the seven-mile boots and fetches his parents.

Bechstein noted "Oral, in Franconia", the source can not be determined according to Hans-Jörg Uther . Cf. Bechstein's Die Wünschdinger , Grimm's Der Satchel, the Hütlein and the Hörnlein . Seven league boots are a well-known fairytale motif.
