The Destination Nunatakker (literally translated: Zielnunatakker ) are a group of mountain peaks and Nunatakkers in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . They extend in the northeast of the Evans Firnfeld over a length of 14.5 km and a width of 6.5 km. They include Sphinx Peak , Andrews Peak , Mummy Ridge, and some unnamed Nunatakker in the northwest.
The group was explored in a 1970-1971 campaign as part of New Zealand's Victoria University's Antarctic Expeditions . They got their name based on the fact that the Nunatakker were near the northern destination of the research trip. The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee and the US Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names adopted the name in 1985 for the group described here, in contrast to some maps in which only two Nunatakkern in the southeast of this group are assigned the name.
