Detlev Mohr (born October 4, 1954 in Dessau ) is a German water rescuer and he is the Vice President of the DLRG .

Career

Mohr studied physics at the Technical University of Magdeburg and became a physicist in 1980 in the field of neutron scattering . In 1990 he submitted his doctoral thesis in biophysics at the Technical University of Dresden . From 1991 to 2004 he was director of the State Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and then Director of the State Office for Occupational Safety (LAS) of the State of Brandenburg in Potsdam. Detlev Mohr has been President of the State Office for Occupational Safety, Consumer Protection and Health (LAVG) of the State of Brandenburg since 2016.

At the age of eleven he joined a swimming club. In 1971 he became a member of the water rescue service in the German Red Cross of the GDR . From 1975 he was regularly during the bathing season on the beach of the Baltic Sea resort of Prerow as a lifeguard and was GDR lifeguard champion. After the political change in the GDR, he founded a local branch of the German Life-Saving Society (DLRG) in Prerow in 1990 and was its chairman until 2008.

From 1995 to 1998 he was technical director of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional association of the DLRG. Since October 1998 he has been Vice President of the DLRG. At the international level, he was a member of the sports commission of the International Lifesaving Federation (ILS) and was Council Member of the European Masters Sports Association (EMSA) from 2006 to 2008. From 2008 to 2012 he was Secretary General of the European umbrella organization for water rescue (ILSE). On August 24, 2012 Mohr was elected President of the International Lifesaving Federation of Europe (ILSE) and Vice President of the World Association (ILS). From there he is involved in DLRG development aid projects abroad.
