Detlev Proessdorf

Detlev Wolfgang Prößdorf (born April 21, 1930 in Wolmar in Latvia ; † June 12, 2017 ) was a German politician . From 1975 to April 30, 1998, he was Lord Mayor of the large district town of Kehl and from 1975 to February 7, 2017, he was chairman of the DRK district association in Kehl.

Life

Prößdorf grew up in Heidelberg and Rottweil and studied philology, psychology, history and law. In the 1970s, Prößdorf worked as a ministerial advisor and chief of protocol in the Hessian State Chancellery . In February 1975 he was put up for election by the SPD as a candidate to succeed the outgoing Mayor of Kehl, Trudpert Müller, and in the second ballot he prevailed against Ulrich Mentz and Fritz Baass with 52.9%. In 1998 he had to resign from the office of Lord Mayor after 23 years, as he reached the legal age limit at the age of 68. His successor was Günther Petry from the SPD .

Also in 1975 Detlev Prößdorf was appointed chairman of the Kehler district association of the German Red Cross . He held this honorary position until 2017.

Detlev Prößdorf died on June 12, 2017 at the age of 87.
