Günther Petry (born September 17, 1949 in Tübingen ) was Lord Mayor of Kehl from 1998 to 2014 and from January 1, 2009 to January 31, 2010 spokesman for the Strasbourg-Ortenau Eurodistrict .

Life

Petry has a PhD in economics . From 1986 he was the personal advisor to the Lord Mayor of Freiburg, Rolf Böhme . In 1989 he became commercial director of Freiburger Stadtbau.

In 1998 he ran for the office of Lord Mayor of Kehl , supported by the SPD and the Greens . As a foreigner, he surprisingly won with 70.72% against the mayor of Kehl, Jörg Armbruster. In 2006 he was re-elected with 90% for another eight years. In 2014 he no longer competed. He received a vote in the first election on February 2, 2014, in which a new mayor could not yet be determined.

His successor was Toni Vetrano ( CDU ), who received 47.6 percent of the vote in the first ballot and 82.5 percent in the second. The engagement took place on May 5, 2014.
