Toni Vetrano

Toni Vetrano (born March 12, 1964 in Caltabellotta , Italy ) is a German politician .

Life

The family of the native Sicilian came to Germany when he was one year old. In 1984 he graduated from the commercial high school in Offenburg and then studied to become a qualified social worker (FH) . From 1990 to 2001 he was employed at the district office of the Ortenau district and completed further training as a business economist (VWA) while working .

Toni Vetrano ran in 1994 on the CDU list for the Offenburg municipal council , but was not elected. In the local elections in 1999 he managed to move in and he was elected chairman of the CDU local association. In 2000 he ran for the office of mayor of the city of Hornberg , but was defeated by Siegfried Scheffold. In 2001 he applied to the community of Durbach and was able to prevail against the incumbent Wolfgang Pühler. In 2009 he was confirmed in office and elected deputy chairman of the CDU district association of Ortenau. In 2013, the Lord Mayor of Kehl , Günther Petry (SPD), announced his withdrawal. As his successor in the major district town, Toni Vetrano received 47.6 percent of the vote in the first ballot and 82.5 percent in the second. The engagement took place on May 5, 2014.

Vetrano was also president of the Ortenau brass band for 12 years until May 2019 .
