The German-Russian Festival was a folk festival and open-air festival in Berlin . They took place between 2007 and 2016 on a weekend in mid-June on the trotting track in Berlin-Karlshorst .

concept

The event was organized by an association of the same name with the aim of "making a contribution to the promotion of German-Russian relations, particularly in the areas of culture, language, science, politics and sport."

The focus of the festivities was on the implementation of the association's goals, which were set in 2005 when the association was founded. By cultural visitors want an insight into the events russian receive culture. These include, for example, chess tournaments, a creative competition organized by the German-Russian Youth Exchange Foundation , film screenings, and dance and music performances. There are also horse races, five-a-side football games, boxing events by the Berlin Boxer Association and an international youth boxing tournament. Information stands advertise tourism; Food stalls offer the opportunity to discover Russia from a culinary point of view. The daily newspaper Neues Deutschland reported that around 150,000 visitors could be counted in 2010. In 2012 there were theater performances in German and Russian and a film festival for the first time. The established program parts included the Russian rock night on Saturday evening and the Nikolai Bersarin memorial race on Sunday.
