German-Thai Society

The German-Thai Society eV is a German association based in Cologne . The purpose is to promote bilateral relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Kingdom of Thailand . The non-profit association has more than 400 members.

history

The publisher Hellmut Girardet was the driving force behind the establishment in 1962 , which should serve to maintain and deepen the German-Thai cultural relations.

The respective ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand in Germany is also honorary president of the society.

Publications

The association has been the publisher of the Thailand Rundschau , which appears every four months, and the DTG series of publications, which has been in 29 volumes since the 1970s, since 1988 .

Events

The annual general meeting takes place at the end of April. Art exhibitions, symposia, lectures, concerts with Thai music and literary evenings are sponsored or organized by the association.

Since 1981 it has been possible for Thai German students to receive scholarships from the DTG (the so-called Drewes scholarship).
