The Franco-German Office for the Energy Transition ( DFBEW ) is an association that has set itself the task of intensifying the exchange of information and experience between German and French ministries , companies, industrial associations, research institutions, regions and municipalities in the field of the energy transition .

history

The DFBEW was founded in 2006 on the initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) and the Ministère délégué à l'Industrie as a project under the name “ Wind Energy Coordination Office ”. After an initial expansion to include photovoltaics in 2011, the association expanded its field of activity in the course of the 50th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty in early 2013 with the signing of a joint declaration by the environment ministers of Germany and France; it was renamed the Franco-German Office for Renewable Energies . As part of the tenth anniversary, his field of activity was expanded to include the entire topic of the energy transition and renamed; since then it has been called the 'Franco-German Office for the Energy Transition'.

The DFBEW has set itself the task of simplifying and intensifying the flow of information between German and French stakeholders in the energy transition. To achieve this goal, it offers its members various services. These currently include u. a. Specialist events on technical, legal or economic topics, as well as workshops and site visits, where current topics are discussed and the networking of the participants is to be promoted. The DFBEW also publishes background papers on the above Main topics as well as translated specialist texts, such as B. Specification, standards and legal texts from both countries and specialist studies. In addition, the DFBEW also provides information via external channels, for example through the press, about the latest developments in the other country.

Members and Funding

At the moment, in addition to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Ministère de la Transition écologique et solidaire (MTES), there are over 200 small, medium-sized and large sub-companies such as project developers, plant manufacturers, expert offices, direct marketers, energy suppliers, network operators and banks, as well as research institutions and Representative of civil society Member of the DFBEW.

Half of the work of the Franco-German office for renewable energies is paid for from public funds from Germany and France and half from membership fees.
