The Deutsch Drahthaar (also German Wirehaired Pointer ) is a German dog breed recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 7, Section 1.1, Standard No. 98 ).
Origin and history
The Deutsch Drahthaar originated from a variety of the German wire-haired pointing dog that was bred at the end of the 19th century. It was created on the basis of the ideas of Sigismund Freiherr von Zedlitz and Neukirch ("Hegewald") from the best breeding animals of the rough-haired Deutsch Stichelhaar , Pudelpointer and Griffon Korthals ( Griffon à Poil Dur ) with the introduction of Deutsch Kurzhaar .

The Deutsch Drahthaar is a dog up to 68 cm tall with hard hair that completely protects the skin. The hair is wire-like, hard, close-fitting and dense. Top hair about 2 to 4 cm long; dense, water-repellent undercoat in brown mold, with or without plates; Black mold, with or without plates or brown with and without markings; Eye color: as dark as possible. His ears ( hangings called) are medium-sized, high and broad and not rotated. The Deutsch Drahthaar has a clearly recognizable stop . He has an attentive and energetic expression. His movements are powerful, expansive, fluid and harmonious.

The Deutsch Drahthaar is a stable, powerful and versatile hunting dog that is used for all types of hunting in the field, in the forest and in the water before and after the shot, with the exception of construction hunts (full-service dog).
