The German long-haired (also German long-haired ) is a German dog breed recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 7, Section 1.2, Standard No. 117 ).
Origin and history
The Deutsch Langhaar is a descendant of the medieval hawk and wachtelhunde ( hunting dog ), which were crossed with the French Epagneul . Like Epagneul, it appears in Germany in the 16th century and has since been very widespread, especially in northern Germany. The Deutsch Langhaar is a representative of the versatile German pointing dogs . He is closely related to the great Münsterländer . Due to differences of opinion about the color of the dogs (brown for the German long haired, black and white for the Großer Münsterländer), the breeding of the two breeds separated at the beginning of the 20th century.

The German Longhaired Pointer is a large and strong dog. It grows up to 70 cm and weighs 35 kg. The hair is simple, firm, straight or slightly wavy, tightly fitting, dense with a good undercoat.
Color according to FCI:
- Solid brown.
- Brown with white or moldy markings (especially on the chest and paws).
- Dark mold (with larger or smaller dark brown plates; brown head, possibly with paleness, snip or star).
- Light mold (with larger or smaller light brown plates; brown head, possibly with paleness, snip or star).
- Trout mold (many small brown spots on a white background. Head brown, possibly with pallor, snip or star).
- Brown-white, either pure brown-white or with very few small spots (large brown plates, with saddle or coat, head: brown, possibly with paleness, snip or star).
- Occasionally, yellow fire can appear as an ancient bracken heritage.
