The Deutsche Apothekerzeitung (spelling: Deutsche Apotheker Zeitung, abbreviation: DAZ) is an independent (association) pharmaceutical journal for science and practice and appears weekly on Thursdays. Since 1984 there has been a Monday edition of the DAZ, the Apotheker Zeitung (AZ), and since 1997 the editorially independent website DAZ.online . The journal goes back historically to the Pharmaceutische Wochenblatt from 1861. At times it was called the Süddeutsche Apotheker Zeitung .

Content and structure

The DAZ covers all relevant topics for the target group of pharmacists . The focus is on aspects of daily practice (advice on advice, self-medication, pharmacy practice, law), pharmaceutical services such as medication analysis and medication management, pharmaceutical and medical science, training, further education and training, as well as professional and health policy. There are also conference and congress reports, comments and opinions.

With the sections “People”, “Pharmacies” and “ Feuilleton ”, the DAZ also provides a platform for social issues. Anniversaries, portraits and birthdays, as well as academic news such as approvals or doctorates , are published nationwide.

The AZ, which is published on Mondays, primarily deals with the areas of politics, economics, management and law.

DAZ and AZ are the only pharmaceutical journals with more than 14,200 ( IVW - circulation control 4th quarter 2018) personally paying subscribers. The print run is over 29,400 copies per issue (actual circulation: 28,667 copies).

In 2017, the DAZ was recognized by the industry association “ Deutsche Fachpresse ” as the best trade magazine (in the category “Trade magazines with a turnover of over 2.5 million euros”). According to the reader analysis for pharmacy journals 2017 (LA-PHARM), the DAZ is the best-known pharmaceutical journal in Germany.
