German Geodetic Commission

The German Geodetic Commission ( DGK ) was founded in 1952 to represent the scientific geodesy of Germany in Munich . It is affiliated to the Bavarian Academy of Sciences as a non-profit association and, as a scientific commission, is subject to the administrative supervision of this institution.

tasks

  1. Scientific research in all areas of geodesy (including photogrammetry , cartography , rural reorganization and geographic information ).
  2. Organization and participation in research projects at home and abroad and in observation campaigns,
    representation of geodesy on a national and international level .
  3. Coordination of geodetic research in Germany as well as scientific advice and support for university and non-university institutions.
  4. Coordination of geodesy studies at the scientific universities of the Federal Republic of Germany.
  5. Publication of research results and their dissemination.

Structure in sections, DGFI

The commission is divided into scientific sections, which represent the research areas represented in the commission, and a section for teaching. The sections are composed of members of the commission and guests and usually meet several times a year. In addition, the DGK is affiliated with the German Geodetic Research Institute .

The scientific committee is primarily responsible for coordinating the Commission's scientific work. The committee meets once a year. At its meetings, the Commission advises in particular on the research projects and activities of its members and their sections, as well as the recommendations of the Commission's Scientific Committee.

Members

The commission is formed by its full members . These are essentially professors from all areas of geodesy at German universities. Other scientists working in geodetic research can also be accepted. Scientists working outside the Federal Republic of Germany can belong to the committee as corresponding members. In order to ensure a close connection between the commission and important non-university institutions in the field of geodesy, representatives of these institutions can be permanent guests of the commission.
