The Evangelical German Indian Pioneer Mission (DIPM) was founded in 1962 by James Rathlef. The occasion was personal experiences and experiences of Rathlef with the spiritual and social need of the Indians of South America. Rathlef, at that time head of the Zeltmissionsvereinigung Süd eV, experienced the hardship during a trip to Brazil in 1959. The personal connection between the South Tent Mission Association and the DIPM meant that the tasks of the Tent Mission were taken over by the DIPM soon after it was founded. As a result, the work of the DIPM was two-pronged from the start: on the one hand missionary activity, on the other hand evangelistic work in Germany, especially in Baden-Württemberg .

General

The DIPM sees its most important task as doing its part in carrying out the missionary mandate ( Mt 28 : 19-20  EU ) and leading people to a personal belief in Jesus Christ. The missionaries have been working in Brazil since 1967 and in Paraguay since 1973 among several Indian tribes. In 2017 there were 53 missionaries in Paraguay and Brazil as well as 38 employees in Germany.

The main areas of work are:

In Germany, a team of voluntary and full-time employees share responsibility for the various work areas such as tent evangelism , church services , house and prayer groups, camps, Bible weeks, mission lectures, as well as child and youth work with children's Bible weeks and other offers. Since 2007 there has been a job in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and since 2008 also in the Uckermark.

The entire missionary activity is carried out by a voluntary group of prayers and donors from the area of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg , Evangelical Free Churches and community groups.

The DIPM is based in St. Johann-Lonsingen .
