The German Kafka Society (DKG) is a literary society founded in Germany in 2005 .

The Deutsche Kafka Society pursues the goal of contributing to a deeper knowledge of the person Franz Kafka , his environment and his works. This is mainly done through scientific conferences and the publication of the periodical research of the German Kafka Society , which is intended to offer young scientists in particular the opportunity to enter into a dialogue with recognized Kafka experts.

Club history and board

The company was founded in Bonn in 2005 . Founding president was Nadine Chmura, who together with Adela Popvici was managing director until 2013. Wilko Steffens served as President until 2016, who, together with the Managing Director Harald Neumeyer, was also the editor of the research series of the German Kafka Society . The series has been published by Harald Neumeyer and Agnes Bidmon, the new president, since 2016. Wilko Steffens publishes the Kafka edition in the Hamburg publishing house Yanus. Harald Neumeyer is professor for modern German literary history at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

In 2016, German studies specialist Agnes Bidmon took over the presidency. The Kafka Society has moved its headquarters to Erlangen and has been working closely with the Department of German and Comparative Studies at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg .

  • 20.-23. July 2009: Kafka Intercultural. Event location: Rauischholzhausen Castle / conference center of the Justus Liebig University in Giessen .
  • 25-27 November 2011: Kafka's narrative method. Event location: Protestant Student Community Marburg, Rudolf-Bultmann-Straße 4, 35039 Marburg.
  • 3rd to 5th October 2014: Kafka's animals. Cultural studies readings. Venue: University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
  • 7th-9th October 2016: Kafka's China. Cultural studies readings. Venue: University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
  • 5th-7th October 2018: Kafka's things. Venue: FernUniversität Hagen.

Fonts

The publications of the German Kafka Society are primarily intended as a publication medium for the next generation of academics, in that they collect the contributions from the regular conferences. By 2013 two volumes had been published by Bernstein-Verlag in Bonn:
