German Social Democratic Party of Polish Upper Silesia
The German Social Democratic Party of Polish Upper Silesia ( DSP ) was a party of the German minority in the Second Polish Republic , which existed between 1922 and 1939. From 1925 the DSP formed a regional association of the German Socialist Labor Party of Poland (DSAP) for Silesia. The party took social democratic positions.
The DSP was formed on March 26, 1922 as a merger of the German Social Democratic Party of Eastern Silesia ( Teschener Schlesien ) (founded before 1920) and the Independent German Social Democratic Party of [Eastern] Upper Silesia (founded in 1921, analogous to the USPD in Germany).
The chairman in Katowice was Johann Kowoll (1891-1942) from 1922 to 1939 . The chairmen in Bielitz were Franz Hönigsmann, Hugo Fender, Siegmunt Glücksmann and Philipp Follmer.
National elections
For the elections to the Sejm and Senate , the DSP 1922 and the DSAP 1928 and 1930 appeared on a joint list of the Polish Socialist Party (PSP). In 1922 the party was able to provide 3 Sejm deputies and a senator. In 1928 there were also three Sejm members and one senator. In 1930 the DP entered the German electoral bloc . Mandates could not be won in Silesia.
