The German Socialist Labor Party of Poland ( DSAP ) was a party of the German minority in the Second Polish Republic , which existed between 1922 and 1939. From 1925 the DSAP was the amalgamation of the regional social democratic parties in Poland. The party took social democratic positions.

history

The party was founded on January 19, 1922 in Łódź for Central Poland . The original name was German Labor Party ( DAP ). On August 9, 1925, it was decided that the name should be changed to German Socialist Labor Party of Poland and that the regional social democratic parties should join the party.

The German Social Democratic Party of Polish Upper Silesia , in which the Katowice and Bielitzer Social Democrats had united, followed this decision. The German Social Democratic Party of Poland (DSP), the regional social democratic party in Bromberg for Pomeranians , separated from the DSAP on June 20, 1928 and was re-established as the DSP.

The chairman of the DAP was Emil Zerbe (1897-1954) from 1922 to 1925 , who was also district chairman in Łódź from 1925 to 1935. His successor as district chairman was Wilhelm Zinzer (1900–1943) from 1935 to 1939 . The chairman of the DSAP party as a whole was Artur Kronig (1896–1953) from 1929 to 1935 and Emil Zerbe from 1935 to 1939.

The party published the Łódź People's Newspaper as a party newspaper.

National elections

For the elections to the Sejm and Senate , the DAP ran in 1922 on a joint list of the German Central Election Committee in Lodz (DZWK). The DAP had three mandates in the Sejm.

After the unification in 1925, a member of the DSP from Bromberg ( Artur Pankratz ) was added.

In 1928 the DSAP ran on a joint list with the Polish Socialist Party (PSP). The DSAP provided two MPs, both from the Łódź district.

In the 1930 election, the party entered as part of the Central Left Bloc and received no mandate.
