Fărău ( German Brenndorf , Hungarian Magyarforró or Forró ) is a Romanian municipality in the Alba district in Transylvania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Fărău with the four incorporated villages extends over an area of 8,154 hectares in a hilly landscape in the northeast of the Alba district. history
According to a report by G. Téglás from 1887 and M. Roska from 1934, discoveries from the La Tène period were made on the territory of the commune . The place Fărău was first mentioned in 1299 under the name Forró (literally translated from Hungarian as "hot"). This name is traced back to the frequent revolts of serfs against noble landowners. Between 1400 and 1800, the farmers in the municipality were serfs of noble families.
The current district of Heria ( Harrendorf ) was first mentioned in documents in 1202 under the name vila Heren , 1274 under Terra Hari and 1733 under Hyrie .
Today the residents live mainly from agriculture and cattle breeding.
