history
According to a report by G. Téglás from 1889, ancient traces of gold panning have been found on site. The place was documented for the first time under the name Râul Mare in 1733 as a municipality with several villages. In a description from 1782, two large towns with seven or four churches and 153 landlords are named here. As the population grew, Albac developed into an independent municipality.
The wooden church Sf. Pantelimon , built in 1746 in Albac by Vasile Ursu Nicola (also called Horea ), was dismantled in 1907 and rebuilt in the spa town of Băile Olăneşti ( Kr. Vâlcea ).
Today the inhabitants live mainly from agriculture, cattle breeding, fruit growing and working in the quarry.
