Lopadea Nouă (outdated Lopadea Ungurească ; German Schaufeldorf , Hungarian Magyarlapád or Lapád ) is a Romanian municipality in the Alba district in Transylvania .
Geographical location
Lopadea Nouă is located in the northeast of the Alba district, on the Hopârta River - a tributary of the Mureș - in western Transylvania. On the county road (Drum județean) DJ 107E, the place is 8 kilometers east of Aiud (Strasbourg am Mieresch) ; the district capital Alba Iulia (Karlsburg) is located about 35 kilometers southwest.
history
There are numerous archaeological sites on the territory of the municipality, which indicate a settlement since the Neolithic Age . To the south of the place - called Gorgan by the locals - necropolis and remains of dwellings from the Migration Period and remains of dwellings from the Hallstatt and Bronze Ages were found.
The place was mentioned for the first time (according to different sources) in 1177 or 1202 under the name Villa Lapád .
The main occupations of the population are agriculture, livestock and fruit growing.

The highest number of inhabitants of today's municipality - also that of the Romanians and that of the Hungarians - was determined in 1956; those of the Germans in 1900, all in the incorporated village of Asinip ( Frauenberg ), those of the Roma (140) in 1850. In the census of 1880, one Ukrainian and three Slovaks and in 1890 again three Slovaks were registered.
Attractions
- The Reformed Church from the 15th century. The tower was built in 1864 and is a listed building.
- The wooden church Sf. Theodor Tiron in Băgău ( Bogun ), built in 1733, rebuilt in 1847, is a listed building.
- The salt field near Ocnișoara ( mine village ).
- The Ponor near the incorporated village of Băgău.
