Doştat ( German Thorstadt , Hungarian Hosszútelke ) is a Romanian municipality in the Alba district in Transylvania .
The place is also known under the German names Langenthal or Langendorf and the Romanian Telecu or Telcu .
location
The municipality Doştat is located in the Zekesch Highlands (Podişul Secaşelor) in southwestern Transylvania. In a hilly landscape on the district road (Drum județean) DJ 141D, the community is located 21 kilometers east of Sebeş and 23 kilometers (as the crow flies) southeast of the district capital Alba Iulia .
history
On the territory of the municipality, between Doştat and Șpring - called La zidu by the locals - on an area of 300 x 300 meters, a Roman settlement of civil or military importance was found during archaeological excavations. Other finds are also associated with Roman culture .
The place was first mentioned in 1320 under the name Huzyuteluk and in 1850 under Dostatt .
Today the inhabitants live mainly from agriculture, livestock and fish farming.
population
The population of the municipality developed as follows:

While in the village itself and in the incorporated village of Dealu Doştatului almost exclusively Romanians have lived since the census in 1850, in the village of Boz ( Bußd ) around a third to a half of the inhabitants were Transylvanian Saxons until 1966 . After 1989 - since the mass emigration of the Transylvanian Saxons - almost all Romanians and Roma (approx. 0.8%) also live in Boz .
Attractions
- The Romanian Orthodox Church , Sf. Nicolae , built in 1866
- In the incorporated town of Boz ( Bußd ) the evangelical fortified church with the hall church (fortified church) and the associated bell tower, which at some point also housed a school, built in 1523, is a listed building.
