Karina Wisniewska

Karina Wisniewska (* 1966 in Venice ) is a pianist and painter of Polish - Swiss origin.

Life

Karina Wisniewska is the daughter of a Polish woman and a Swiss diplomat. She spent the first years of her life in Italy , Egypt and the USA . Her father died when she was four years old. After stays in Egypt, the USA and Berlin , she moved to Switzerland . Wisniewska received piano lessons for the first time at the age of five. She has won the Swiss Youth Music Competition three times. 1983–1986 she studied at the University of Music and Theater in Bern ; she then completed courses in a master class there. After further studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, she performed international concerts as a soloist and chamber musician from 1992 to 2000.

In addition to ten CD recordings, this included appearances at the International Lucerne Festival , the Wiener Festwochen , the Berlin Philharmonie , the Baden-Baden Music Festival and the White Nights Festival in Saint Petersburg . In 1993 she gave the world premiere of Rachmaninoff's 1st Piano Concerto in the original version, followed by its first CD recording in 1994 as a world premiere with the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Fedosejew .

In 2000, an accident with scissors put an end to her career as a pianist. From then on Karina Wisniewska devoted herself to painting and successfully exhibits in renowned galleries and at international art fairs around the world.

In spring 2009, Benteli Verlag published her book "Karina Wisniewska: Moved Stille - Silent Dynamism". Wisniewska also writes articles as a columnist for several cultural magazines, gives lectures and is a frequent guest on talk shows.
