The German Foundation for Paraplegia (DSQ) is a non-profit foundation for the promotion of scientific research into the prevention and treatment of spinal cord damage as well as for information about paraplegia and its consequences, initiated by the Association of Paraplegics in Germany (FGQ).

aims

According to the statutes of the foundation, the goals of the foundation are "to improve the living situation of paraplegics, especially with regard to treatment and rehabilitation , with regard to training and work and with regard to integration in all areas of social life."

Methods

Exchange of information between Asia and Europe

Virtual cooperation between DSQ and the State Medical University of Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, and the SM Charity Foundation. Since 2007, an extensive exchange of medical experiences has been carried out with several major clinics in the Krasnoyarsk region on the technical basis of video conferences.

Communication application for paraplegics (DSQ paraKomm)

This communication application is intended to enable paraplegics and people with restricted mobility to access a lot of information on the subject of paraplegia.

Prevention campaign "No risk - no fun?"

70% of paraplegia result from accidents in everyday life. The campaign disseminates information about the risks of leisure activities accompanied by special actions such as B. Project days at schools, where young people who are potentially at risk are addressed directly. The swimmer and Olympic champion Hannah Stockbauer is the patron of this project.
