The Deutsche Verkehrs-Zeitung with the subtitle weekly for the postal, telegraph, telephone and radio system appeared for the first time on January 5, 1877 .

The Deutsche Verkehrs-Zeitung appeared in two different editions:

  • Issue A appeared every Saturday with the fortnightly supplement “Traffic and Business Science in Post and Telegraphy”. The subscription price was ℛℳ 2 per month from the post office and ℛℳ 2.50 from the publisher.
  • Issue B without the supplement, by post monthly 1.25, by the publisher 0 1.50.

Initially, the DVZ appeared tacitly, later with official support from the Reich Post Office, once a week. It described itself as an organ for the post, telegraph and railway system and for the interests of the German traffic officials and saw its task in the representation of the interests of the entire traffic system. The newspaper was published by Bernhard Brigl and, since February 7, 1919, by Georg Koenig in Berlin NO 43, Georgenkirchstrasse 22.

The first secretary was the lawyer Franz Liepmann . Over the years, the content and objectives of the magazine changed to a purely postal trade magazine with a semi-official character. In 1924, the editorship was transferred to the Reich Ministry of Post and was in the hands of specialist officials and was essentially based on the literary collaboration of members of the Deutsche Reichspost. It was based in Berlin W 56, Leipziger Strasse 15, right next to the Reich Post Office .

As of October 1924, in conjunction with Deutsche Verkehrs-Zeitung to supplementing and substantive relief as a side dish, the journal "Transport and Business Administration in Post and Telegraph, Journal of the postal and telegraph services, for training for officials of Transport History" to Issued at the end of 1937. From 1938 the magazine appeared under the title Die Deutsche Post, weekly journal for the postal and telecommunications system , the last issue appeared at the end of January 1945. After the war, the DVZ was replaced by two independent magazines in the east and west. In West Germany, from January 5, 1949, the magazine for the postal and telecommunications system was published with the support of the Federal Minister for the postal and telecommunications system and published by Josef Keller Verlag . In East Germany the title was Die Deutsche Post - Journal for the Post and Telecommunications of the GDR , published by the Ministry for Post and Telecommunications in Transpress VEB Verlag für Verkehrwesen Berlin.
