The DSSV Employers' Association of German Fitness and Health Systems e. V. ( DSSV ) is the employers' association of German sports studios, fitness, wellness and racket facilities based in Hamburg. It is Europe's largest employers' association for the fitness industry. It is one of the leading associations of German business, is a member of the Confederation of German Employers 'Associations and is represented at EU level through the BusinessEurope employers' association in Brussels. The association represents the interests of an industry that owns over 9,300 fitness and health systems and a sales volume of over EUR 5.33 billion. As a social partner, the DSSV is used for regulations in the areas of social and tariff policy as well as vocational training and other regulations. He is in constant communication with the public, political decision-makers, associations and other organizations and chambers.

history

The DSSV was founded in 1984 by Refit Kamberovic, Birgit Schwarze, Thomas Witthöft, Bernd Gaberle, Simeon Rastädter, Thorsten Hartung and Rainer Schult. The abbreviation DSSV stood for German Sport Studio Association . The association's seat was initially the apartment of the current (2019) President Birgit Schwarze in Hamburg-Harburg . The first members of the association are primarily martial arts schools. In 1987 the association became a member of the state association of employers' associations in Hamburg, the German Society for Leisure Time and the European Association of the Self-employed. A key data study on the fitness market was published for the first time in the same year. In 1999, the DSSV finally became a member of the Federal Association of German Employers' Associations (BDA) in order to support the interests of employers in the fitness industry at the federal level. Since the beginning of its activities in 1984, the association has taken care of training and further education in the fitness industry. Even before the fall of the Berlin Wall , the DSSV was involved in the GDR and in 1989 offered a seminar there for start-ups. Since 2007, the association has been cooperating with the BSA Academy and the German University for Prevention and Health Management (DHPG) in training and further education .

Members

In addition to regular members, the association also has so-called sponsoring members. Every third fitness studio in Germany is a full member of the DSSV or was represented by it. The DSSV is composed of a board of directors, the management, five technical committees and the trainer register.

Board

The board of the association consists of the president Birgit Schwarze, the vice-president Werner Kündgen and the board members Torsten Hartung, Ellen Ruck and Sabine Seemann.

The general manager Refit Kamberovic is in charge of the management of the DSSV. He is supported by a branch manager.

aims

According to § 2 of the association's statutes, the DSSV as an employers' association is to organize the private sports studios, fitness, wellness and racket facilities as members in order to organize an interest group to support the professional and economic problems of the members at the federal level. In addition, it should represent the socio-political and labor law issues of its members.

tasks

The association goals should be achieved according to § 3 of the association statutes through the following tasks:

  • Representing the interests of commercial sports studios in public and vis-à-vis other organizations.
  • Training and further education of the members through special training seminars, which are carried out by experts in the fields of sport, medicine, education, business administration, tax law and advertising.
  • To carry out his work, tasks and goals to create, manage and use assets.
