The German Association of Economic Promotion and Development Societies (DVWE) forms the roof of almost 140 outsourced municipal economic development institutions from all over Germany. It bundles and represents your interests with regard to current issues in economic, structural and location development. The member companies are predominantly municipal or regional sponsors.

history

The association was founded in June 2001 with 22 members on the initiative of the State Association of Economic Promotion and Development Companies in North Rhine-Westphalia (VWE). Since then it has grown to become the largest network of municipal business development in Germany .

Its aim is to promote and secure the economic and social structures in their cities, districts and regions. Addressees of the advisory and support services are existing and interested companies, start-ups, shareholders and citizens.

Fields of action

The DVWE informs and advises in the network on current and future-oriented topics of economic and structural development in German cities and regions. Initiatives, activities and events are geared towards the sustainable development and establishment of quality standards in business development in general and in the member institutions in particular. Another focus is the sustainable development of the political and economic framework for business development . To this end, the association represents the interests of its members vis-à-vis the federal states, the federal government and the European Union as well as vis-à-vis organizations, institutions and chambers.

structure

The general assembly and the honorary board of directors form the organs of the DVWE. The tour is supported by an office in numerous activities. It also serves as a fixed point of contact for all members. The board members come from business promotion and development companies throughout Germany. From September 2002 to mid-June 2020, Dr. Thomas Robbers, former managing director of the Münster Economic Development Corporation.

The general assembly and DVWE board are advised and supported by a state advisory board. It includes representatives from every federal state and other competent members, in particular representatives of local government associations. The annual forum of German business development agencies in Berlin results from close contact with leading associations such as the German Association of Cities , the Association of German Cities and Towns and the Association of German Districts .
