German Institute for Trust and Security on the Internet

The German Institute for Trust and Security on the Internet (DIVSI) was a non-profit company that was initiated by Deutsche Post AG and founded on March 2, 2011. The aim of the facility was to create security and trust when using the Internet . DIVSI was dissolved at the end of 2018. The DIVSI website remains accessible as an "archive website" managed by Bucerius Law School .

Aim and purpose

In 2011, the letter board of Deutsche Post AG Jürgen Gerdes explained the intention of founding the institute as follows:

“The security of data, transactions and confidential communication is a central challenge for the state, business, society and every individual. Post and postal secrecy have always been synonyms for secure and confidential communication. That is why it is particularly important to us to anchor the security of the confidentiality of letters in the digital world as well. "

Management, patrons

Matthias Kammer was appointed director. As advisor are Claudia Eckert , Thomas Götzfried, Harald Lemke and Bernhard Rohleder ( Bitkom ) operates. The founding patron was Federal President Joachim Gauck . He was followed in November 2012 by Federal President a. D. Roman Herzog († January 10, 2017). On October 12, 2017, Federal President a. D. Joachim Gauck again the patronage for the institute.
