Göttrik Wewer

Göttrik Wewer (* 1954 in Salzgitter ) is a German political scientist and politician. He was State Secretary in Lower Saxony , in the Federal Ministry of the Interior and State Council in Bremen .

Life

After graduating from high school, Wewer studied political science, sociology , modern history, economics and public law in the 1970s . He did his doctorate and was a research assistant at the University of Hamburg .

From 1991 to 1996 the social democrat worked in the State Chancellery of Schleswig-Holstein . In 1996 he became director of the administrative college in Schleswig-Holstein. In 1999 he was appointed department head and deputy head of the State Chancellery in Schleswig-Holstein and in 2001 he was appointed State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education under the direction of Renate Jürgens-Pieper (SPD).

In 2003 he became a permanent state secretary in the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) under Minister Otto Schily (SPD). He was chairman of the sports commission of the conference of ministers of education and a member of the board of trustees of the Foundation Youth Trained for the Olympics . He was honorary chairman of the supervisory board of the DFB cultural foundation in Berlin, which organized the cultural program for the 2006 soccer World Cup . After the change of government in Berlin in November 2005, Wewer lost his position in the ministry. The German Football Association (DFB) and Otto Schily's (SPD) successor Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU) did not replace Wewer as chairman of the DFB cultural foundation's supervisory board just before the World Cup.

In 2006 he was appointed to the State Council at the Senator for Education and Science as a representative of Senator Willi Lemke , (SPD). He could only hold the office until Lemke left in 2008; his immediate successor was Carl Othmer (SPD).

In 2008 he became managing director of the National Anti-Doping Agency of Germany (NADA) in Bonn. He resigned from this office with effect from September 30, 2010. Wewer has been Vice President E-Government at Deutsche Post Consult GmbH since 2010.

In 2018 he became the new chairman of the Federal Association of German Postal Service Providers (BvDP)
