German National Committee of ICOMOS
The German National Committee of ICOMOS , also "ICOMOS Germany", officially: "German National Committee of ICOMOS (International Council for Cultural Monuments and Areas Worthy of Protection) eV", is a registered association based in Munich .
Surname
Due to the similarity of the names, the German National Committee of ICOMOS uses the name "ICOMOS Germany" in Germany, while the International Council on Monuments and Sites is called "ICOMOS International".
History and organization
ICOMOS Germany was founded in Mainz in 1965 following the signing of the Venice Charter (1964). It advocates the protection and maintenance of cultural monuments and complexes and the preservation of the historical cultural heritage throughout Germany and internationally . It is a member of ICOMOS International and co-finances it.
The President of the German National Committee is Jörg Haspel , State Curator of Berlin , and Vice President Christoph Machat , who is also a member of the Executive Committee of ICOMOS International.
ICOMOS Germany publishes the series “Hefte des Deutschen Nationalkomitees”.
