The German Phonomuseum is a museum in Baden-Württemberg in the city of Sankt Georgen in the Black Forest .

The museum shows the history of the phono industry , from the phonograph to the modern CD . In addition to old record players manufactured by the former local companies Dual and PE , the museum exhibits gramophones , which were the predecessors of record players. In addition, curiosities of the phono industry such as sound recording on wire and foil tape cassette are shown. Music and television chests from the 1930s to 1960s and devices from the more recent past such as portable cassette players, walkmen and video recording devices such as VHS and Betamax recorders as well as professional radio and television equipment are also on display .

On the upper floor there are two departments with exhibits on the St. Georgens watch industry and the supply industry.

The museum was reopened on July 15, 2011 and is now located in the former “Brigau” department store. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday. Appointments can be made for group tours .
