The German Chair Museum Eimbeckhausen is a museum in Eimbeckhausen , a district of the Lower Saxon city ​​of Bad Münder am Deister in the Hameln-Pyrmont district . It is dedicated to the chair seating furniture .

The museum, which has existed in the former Wente & Söhne factory building since 2003, is a reminder of the chair industry that began in the Deister - Süntel region in 1820 . At the time of industrialization , several chair factories were built here; only the office furniture manufacturer Wilkhahn remains in Eimbeckhausen .

Numerous different chairs, tools and documents are used to document the regional history of factory chair production and the work of the chair carpenters , turners , weavers , upholsterers , stainers and polishers .

Eimbeckhausen has a chair symbol in its coat of arms; the place is also called Stuhldorf.

In 1979 the chair museum Burg Beverungen was opened in Beverungen in the district of Höxter in North Rhine-Westphalia . It has been located in Lauenförde in the Holzminden district in Lower Saxony since 2004 . Since then, the private museum has been called the Kragstuhlmuseum / Tecta-Archiv Lauenförde . It shows a comprehensive collection on the history of modern furniture design with a focus on the development of the cantilever chair .
