German vintage festival

The German Wine Festival takes place annually on the first and second weekend in October in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse , which is located in the middle of the Palatinate and the German Wine Route and embodies the center of the Palatinate wine-growing region .
After the Dürkheim sausage market , which is held in September in Bad Dürkheim , 15 km away , the German Wine Festival is considered the second largest wine festival in the world. Its main tourist attraction is the Neustadt winegrowers' parade . The inspiration for the vintage festival came in 1929 from the Neustadt publisher Daniel Meininger (1876–1964).
Events
"Haiselscher"
On the Neustadt station forecourt, the “ Haiselscher ” invite you to stop off on the last Friday in September . The small wine bars in half-timbered optics offer besides specialties from the Palatinate cuisine , especially the new wine of. In the meantime, the name Haiselscher is no longer used only for the location, but also for the pre- and accompanying party itself, which originally had no name of its own.

Palatinate and German wine queen
Traditionally, from 1949 to 2005, the election of both the Palatinate and the German Wine Queen took place in the Neustadter Saalbau, on the first and second festival weekend.
