Dezső Szenkár

Dezső Szenkár (born January 27 or January 28, 1894 in Budapest ; † December 5, 1962 there ) was a Hungarian composer and conductor .

Life

He was a son of Nándor Szenkár . After graduating from school, he studied at the Royal Hungarian Music Academy . His teachers were Leó Weiner , Albert Siklós and Dezső Antalffy-Zsiross.

From 1923 he worked at the Unió Theater in Budapest. In 1927 he became Kapellmeister at the Stadttheater in Innsbruck . He then worked on stages in Stockholm , Berlin , Helsinki and Paris . During this time he mainly composed music for the theater. In 1939 he returned to Budapest.

He wrote songs , chamber music works, ballet music , operettas and film music , among other things .
