Dhiffushi ( Dhivehi އއ) or Holiday Island is an island in the Maldives in the Indian Ocean that has been developed for tourism and has been used as a holiday resort since 1994 .
The name "Dhiffushi" translates as "long uninhabited island".

This island is around 700 meters long and 140 meters wide and it is one of the southernmost island resorts of the southern Ari Atoll ( Dhivehi :އއ / Alif Dhaal).
Organizationally, Holiday Island belongs to the chain of Villa Hotels Maledives together with Paradise Island, Sun Island, Royal Island and Fun Island .
Transport and traffic
The island is 97 kilometers southwest of the airport on Malé . The transfer takes about 2½ hours by speedboat and about ½ hour by seaplane .
Construction of a regional airport and port began in 2002 on the neighboring island of Maamigili , which is inhabited by locals , and has been completed since mid-2014 (as of October 2014).
The traditional ship of the Maldives, the Dhoni , is mainly used for excursions, transport or fishing . There is also a shuttle service to the neighboring island of Nalaguraidhoo (Sun Island).
Flora and fauna
The island is densely overgrown with bushes and coconut trees. Herons and fruit bats live on the island . Lizards , spiders and other small animals as well as insects can also be seen everywhere.
At the house reef of the island are many types of fish , corals , snails and turtles at home. Small blacktip reef sharks and various rays can also be seen in the immediate vicinity of the beach.
