Heinrich Hackmann

Heinrich Friedrich Hackmann (born August 31, 1864 in Osnabrück , † July 13, 1935 in Hildesheim ) was a German Protestant theologian , religious historian and sinologist .

After studying in Leipzig and Göttingen , he became a private lecturer in Göttingen in 1893. Hackmann was pastor of the German congregation in Shanghai from 1894 to 1904 and pastor of the German congregation in Denmark Hill , London, from 1904 . From 1913 to 1934 he was a full professor of the history of religion at the University of Amsterdam .

Hackmann belonged to the School of Religious History .

On August 31, 1934, upon his retirement from the University of Amsterdam, he was made an Honorary Senator of the University of Marburg . The honorary senator was awarded for the transfer of his scientific library to the religious studies collection of the Philipps University of Marburg.
