Sant'Elia

The well sanctuary ( Italian Pozzo sacro ) di Tattinu is located near the Byzantine church Sant'Elia , near Nuxis in the province of Sud Sardegna in Sardinia . The holy well from the 11th century BC Is connected to a nuragic settlement made up of various remains of huts.

description

Di Tattinu differs from other well sanctuaries on the island in that there are no structures visible above ground. Another special feature is the eight-meter-deep and 1.25 to 1.10-wide staircase with 28–29 steps above which two cross members support the exit. The shaft of the well, which is over 5 meters deep, is elliptical (1.82 × 1.25 m), unlike the other temples in Sardinia. The masonry consists of large and small blocks.

Among the ceramic votive offerings found were some glasses with flat rims, as well as hanging vessels, bowls and bowls from the late Bronze Age .
