The Diabolin-Polka is a polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 244). The work was probably first performed in Pavlovsk , Russia, in the summer of 1860 .

Remarks

The date of the first performance in Russia is not known. What is certain is that the polka was composed by Johann Strauss in the summer of 1860 during his annual trip to Russia, and was initially released under the name Nouvelle Satanella-Polka . With this he once again set a musical monument to the dancer Marie Taglioni. In her honor he already had the Satanella-Polka Op. 124, the Satanella Quadrille op. 123 and the Marie Taglioni Polka op. 173 written. This dancer had meanwhile also caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and was well known to the Russian audience. In the meantime, the enthusiasm for the dancer in Vienna had clearly waned. Therefore, the name was quickly changed to Diabolin-Polka . The first performance of the work in Vienna took place on November 12, 1860 in the Dianabad Hall under the direction of Josef Strauss and on November 25 in the Volksgarten under the direction of the composer.

The playing time on the CD listed under itemization is 3 minutes and 50 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
