Diagalves

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Diagalves is an autochthonous white wine from Portugal. Their cultivation is recommended or approved throughout Portugal. At the end of the 1990s, the forested area was around 2,333 hectares . The wine made from the late-ripening variety is simple and usually has a low alcohol content. It can therefore be used both as a table wine or a blend wine . Small stocks are also known in Spain.

The Diagalves is also a popular table grape locally . The grape can be kept on the vine for a long time. However, after picking, the grapes dry out quickly. Diagalves is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.

Synonyms: Carnal, Dependura, Diego Alves, Diogalves, Fernan Fer, Formosa, Formosa Dourada or Formosa Portalegre, Pendura, Pendura Amarela and Villanueva (in Spain).
