Diahnne Abbott

Diahnne Eugenia Abbott (born May 1, 1945 in New York City ) is an American actress and jazz singer .

Live and act

Abbott was married to actor Robert De Niro from 1976 to 1988 , with whom she has a son (* 1976). Their daughter Drena (* 1967) from a previous relationship was adopted by De Niro. The couple separated in the late 1970s.

At De Niro's side, she made her film debut in Martin Scorsese's drama Taxi Driver in 1976. In Scorsese's musical film New York, New York (1977) she had a cameo with the Fats Waller classic Honeysuckle Rose . In the late 1980s she also worked on the concept albums Cab Calloway Stands in for the Moon (1988) and Tenderness (1990) by Kip Hanrahan .

Diahnne Abbott is a cousin of the singer Gregory Abbott . She is not to be confused with the British politician Diane Abbott .
