Diallo Telli

Boubacar Diallo Telli (* 1925 in Porédaka , † March 1, 1977 in Camp Boiro ) was a Guinean politician and diplomat . He was involved in founding the Organization for African Unity and was its first general secretary between 1964 and 1972. After five years as Justice Minister of Guinea, he was interned in the prison for political prisoners Camp Boiro, where he died of starvation.

Life

Diallo Telli was born in Porédaka in 1925. After graduating from high school in Dakar , he attended the renowned École nationale de la France d'Outre-Mer in Paris , the aim of which was to train leaders for colonial service. After returning from Paris in 1955, he became the office manager of the High Commissioner for French West Africa. This corresponded to the highest position that an African ever achieved in the French colonial era.

When Guinea gained independence in 1958, Telli became the country's permanent representative to the United Nations .
